What can Discord do to automate your business notification and reporting?
I spent months and months of work to automate my small business. Here's what I used Discord for, the messaging application mostly used by young people and gamers today, and why I think every company needs Discord today.
1. Server and channels - free and unlimited
You can create dedicated channels (like Slack and Teams) for your departments, but also invite guests from other companies to your channels. Free and unlimited number of users and channels.
2. Automation with bots
I created Discord bots and webhooks that send us reports on business, statements, etc. For example, I ask the Discord bot what I have left from today's tasks, it goes to Excel and returns the information to me. And I say, I walked for 30 minutes, the bot goes to Excel and marks that item from my list. But not only that, if I have a new query, a new email, a warning that the server is not available, he sends me a message properly, without me asking anything beforehand.
3. Voice meetings
If you need to hold an online meeting, you have fast channels on each server and you can easily join
4. Video meetings for up to 25 people with Go Live
Of course, there are also video calls, limited to 25 participants. Yes, you can shareati screen.
5. Power and a bunch of integration apps
Connect your calendars, code on Github, Trello, kids and personal stuff all in one place in one app.
And what don't I like about Discord?
🚫 The interface is reminiscent of MSN Messenger, at every turn some emoji. If you can ignore that, great.
🚫 No integrated calendar
🚫 No meeting recording
🚫 No compliance with all security standards
Who should definitely use it?
✅ Startups and small teams that prioritize flexibility and cost.
✅ Remote teams that value voice collaboration in real time.
✅ Control freaks who want to know everything that is happening with their company. 😊
